The New Library

In October 2009, the Natrona County Public Library Foundation purchased a portion of the site formerly known as the American Pipeyard at 435 W. 1st Street in downtown Casper.

The approximately five acre parcel was purchased with private funds raised by the Foundation and will be considered as a future library site.

“The need for a new library is not going away,” said Foundation Board President John Masterson at the time. “During last fall’s ballot initiative, concerns were voiced about the purchase of the land and private donors stepped forward to address that issue. We are incredibly grateful to the generosity of the individual donors who provided the funds to purchase this land.”

“When the opportunity arose to purchase this property, we asked the Foundation to pursue it,” said Charlie Robertson, president of the library’s Board of Trustees. “While we have no plans to pursue a building initiative at this time, we believe this downtown location is ideal for our long-term needs.”

“Ultimately, the library is about our community, our children and our future,” said Masterson. “We are honored to be able to participate in serving these needs and provide an insurance policy for the future.”
